TPC Monterey at Pasadera is seeking a friendly, service-driven Bartender to join our Food & Beverage team! The ideal candidate enjoys creating a welcoming atmosphere, delivering exceptional hospitality, and working in a fast-paced environment.

This position offers the opportunity to work across multiple Food & Beverage outlets, including our restaurant, bar, and private events and banquets. Flexibility is essential, as scheduling and assignments will vary based on club operations, event needs, and business volume.

Position Summary

The Bartender is responsible for preparing, mixing, and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to members and guests while maintaining high standards of service, cleanliness, and beverage quality. This role supports both daily restaurant and bar operations and private events, banquets, and special functions.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Greet members and guests in a warm, friendly, and professional manner, creating a welcoming hospitality experience.
  • Prepare, mix, and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to approved recipes and club standards.
  • Provide knowledgeable recommendations, answer beverage-related questions, and assist guests with menu selections.
  • Accurately enter beverage orders into the point-of-sale system and process payments in accordance with club procedures.
  • Prepare, stock, and organize the bar before service, ensuring adequate supplies, garnishes, glassware, and equipment are available.
  • Maintain clean and organized bar areas, equipment, glassware, and storage spaces throughout each shift.
  • Monitor beverage inventory, communicate supply needs, and assist with restocking and inventory control.
  • Provide beverage service for private events, weddings, tournaments, banquets, and other club functions, including setting up and breaking down event bars.
  • Maintain flexibility to work in the restaurant, bar, and banquet/event spaces as business needs require.
  • Collaborate with servers, banquet staff, culinary team members, and management to ensure smooth and efficient service.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to member and guest requests, concerns, and complaints, communicating issues to management as needed.
  • Follow all applicable alcohol service laws, food safety requirements, sanitation standards, and club policies.
  • Monitor alcohol consumption and responsibly slow or refuse service when necessary, following established procedures.
  • Follow cash handling, beverage control, opening, and closing procedures.
  • Attend staff meetings, pre-shift briefings, and required training sessions.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to uniform and grooming standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of bartending or related food and beverage experience preferred.
  • Must meet all applicable legal requirements for preparing and serving alcoholic beverages.
  • Knowledge of beer, wine, spirits, standard cocktails, glassware, and garnishes.
  • Familiarity with bar equipment, point-of-sale systems, inventory procedures, and sanitation practices.
  • Strong communication, listening, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to provide excellent service while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to responsible alcohol service and compliance with applicable laws and club policies.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing to a collaborative team.
  • Willingness to assist with restaurant operations and event/banquet service as needed.
  • Flexible availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and varying shifts based on business and event needs.
  • A positive attitude, strong work ethic, attention to detail, and genuine passion for hospitality.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stretch, and perform repetitive motions.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull items weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to set up and break down bar stations, transport supplies, and assist with event setups.
  • Ability to work effectively in a busy, high-pressure environment while maintaining professionalism and composure.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with members, guests, and team members and perform basic mathematical and cash-handling functions.

Working Conditions & Schedule

  • Work may take place indoors or outdoors in restaurant, bar, banquet, and event settings.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures, weather conditions, noise levels, and high-volume service periods.
  • Schedule may include mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours depending on business needs.
  • Shifts and work locations may vary depending on restaurant operations, private events, banquets, golf tournaments, and other club functions.
  • Flexibility and a team-oriented approach are essential to success in this role.
